This experimental study should allow us to provide a robust explanation of the dramatic events which affected beech trees in the early 2000s. Furthermore, it would generate valuable information on the link which could exist between climate change and this particular plant – insect relationship. In a global climate change context, such an approach could be of a significant importance for forest managers and, more broadly, for the whole forestry sector.
